Mykonos, Greece. A place I never thought I would get the opportunity to travel, yet here we are, exploring different parts of the world.
Just about everytime we have traveled to a new place, I have deemed it my favorite. But, this time, Mykonos, Greece is my favorite adventure! It’s such a small island with buildings painted white and quaint alleyways with gorgeous flowers growing on the sides of houses. It’s like I stepped into a dream world.
Driving in Mykonos has its challenges. There are rules, but not really. And the roads are very narrow and LARGE buses make their way through without a care if you’re in the way or not. And parking just happens wherever you feel like stopping.
Among the quirky things about this island, they don’t have any grass. It’s just a rocky island with beautiful buildings and beautiful beaches.
Speaking of beaches, it’s not all one stretch of beach, it’s a bunch of different beaches broken up. Caleb and I tried to go to a different beach each time and the ones we went to were beautiful. The water is a gorgeous blue and fairly clear, but still a little chilly. The sand is kind of rough. Not like the soft sand you’d find somewhere like Florida, but it was made up of tiny little pebbles.
We were lucky when we first showed up because it was sunny and there was no wind! Everything was calm and the water was completely still. The last two days we were there, we got the full Mykonos wind experience! The island is known for being very windy. There was no hope for a nice hair day with that amount of wind.
I would go back to Mykonos in a heartbeat, even with the wind. And, if you ever have the opportunity to go, DO IT! You won’t be disappointed.
